Mavaul is made by Diogo Ferreira, a founder and engineer. He designs and builds the app, and writes the guides and comparisons on this site. On the App Store, the developer is Diogo Ferreira.
Why Mavaul
Every photo vault locks. Few are nice to use. Mavaul started from a simple idea: a private vault should feel as good to open as Photos, because it's where you go back to the photos, not just where you put them.
So the security is the floor. Every photo and video is encrypted with AES-256-GCM on the iPhone, there's no account, no Mavaul cloud, and no tracking. Then the work goes into the rest: a viewer that works like Photos, a slideshow that keeps up, Wi-Fi Share to a TV, laptop or any browser on your Wi-Fi, a calculator lock screen that really calculates.
How we write the guides
- Mavaul facts come from the app's own code: the encryption, the lockouts, how backup and Wi-Fi Share work.
- Other apps' facts come from their App Store listings and privacy labels, with the date we checked.
- Every comparison and ranking says where the other apps win, and where Mavaul falls short.
- We make Mavaul, and we say so on the pages where that matters.
- If something is wrong or out of date, email us and we'll fix it.
