# My passport is in my camera roll

_By [Diogo Ferreira](/about/), founder & engineer_

Photos of your passport, licence and cards are handy and risky: they sit in your camera roll, sync to iCloud and show up in search for "passport". Keep them in a vault, encrypted, and delete the copies.

## Move them
1. In Photos, search for "passport", "card" or "document" to find them.
2. Import them into Mavaul, where they're encrypted with AES-256 on the phone.
3. Let Mavaul delete the originals, then empty Recently Deleted.
4. Delete any you sent in Messages or email, if you don't need them there.

## Keep them handy
Put them in a folder in Mavaul so they're one tap away at a check-in desk. Pinch to zoom on the number you need.

## Questions
### Can Photos search find my ID photos?
Yes. Photos recognises text and objects, so a search for "passport" often finds them.

### Can Mavaul store PDFs?
Mavaul is for photos and videos. Save a screenshot or photo of the page.
