# Features

Mavaul is a private vault for photos and videos on iPhone. Every photo is encrypted with AES-256 on the phone, with no account and no Mavaul cloud. The rest of the app is about the part you do every day: opening the vault and looking at your photos.

## Six things it does well
- [On-device encryption](/features/on-device-encryption/) Free AES-256-GCM on the iPhone for every photo, video and album name. No account, no Mavaul cloud.
- [Face ID & passcode](/features/face-id-passcode/) Free Open with a glance or a 4-digit code that isn't your phone's. Locks the moment you leave.
- [Photo viewer](/features/photo-viewer/) Free Tap the edges to flick through, pinch to zoom, pull down to close, or start a slideshow.
- [Wi-Fi Share](/features/wi-fi-share/) Free Scan a QR code and the vault opens in a browser on a TV, laptop or any device on the same Wi-Fi. Nothing leaves your Wi-Fi.
- [Encrypted backup](/features/encrypted-backup/) Premium Back up to Dropbox, Nextcloud or Files, encrypted on the phone first. Mavaul never hosts it.
- [Email recovery](/features/email-recovery/) Premium Email yourself your recovery key, confirmed with a code, so it's there if you forget the passcode.

## Also in Mavaul
- **Decoy mode.** A working calculator stands in for the lock screen; type your passcode on its keypad to get in. Free. Swap the icon for a calculator, a cat, a bottle of hot sauce and more (Premium).
- **Lock delay.** The vault locks the moment you leave. Want a grace period? Pick 5 seconds up to 10 minutes. Premium.
- **Adjust & crop.** Exposure, brilliance, contrast, shadows and brightness, plus crop to Square, 4:5, 4:3 or 16:9. Edits stay inside the vault. Premium.
- **Drag to select.** Slide a finger across the grid to grab dozens at once, like Photos on iOS. Free.
- **No limits.** The free plan holds 20 photos and videos. Premium has no cap.

## Free and Premium
Free holds 20 photos and videos with encryption, Face ID and passcode, the viewer, Wi-Fi Share and the calculator lock screen. Premium removes the limit and adds encrypted backup, email recovery, Adjust & crop, app icons, and your own lock delay and slideshow timing. From 1,99 € a month, 17,99 € a year, or 49,99 € once.
